The Fall Guy, Ryan Gosling’s latest film with Emily Blunt, has officially aired in Indonesia on Tuesday (23/4/2024). Indonesia is said to be the first country to show David Leicht’s film, a day ahead of its release schedule.
As a tribute film to stuntmen, Gosling said this film is aimed at stuntmen who have made great contributions to the film industry, but are often invisible because they are covered by the charm of the main actors and actresses.
Looking deeper, there are several interesting facts from the film The Fall Guy, which have been summarized from various sources:
1. Adapted from the series The Fall Guy (1980)
This action-comedy film is adapted from the series of the same title which was released in 1981. The series stars Lee Majors, Douglas Barr, and Heather Thomas.
Lee Majors plays Colt Seavers, a stuntman who has a part-time job as a bounty hunter. He uses his physical skills and knowledge of stunt effects, especially those involving large GMC cars or pickup trucks to catch fugitives and hardened criminals.
In action he was accompanied by his cousin who was being trained to become a stuntman, namely Howie Munson (Barr), and fellow stuntwoman Jody Banks (Thomas).
2. Luxurious shooting location
The production process for the film The Fall Guy has started in October 2022 at Disney Studios Australia and Moore Park, Sydney, Australia. Uniquely, in January 2023, the Sydney Harbor Bridge was closed for several hours during the day to film scenes involving dangerous stunts by stuntmen.
3. Break records
Before its broadcast, this film had succeeded in breaking a world record, namely Guinness World Records, during its production process. This film records the highest number of cannons thrown in a car in one action.
The stunt was performed by Logan Holladay, who was responsible for the driving stunts for the main character played by Ryan Gosling. He was involved in a scene that required him to throw a cannonball in a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It is known that Holladay managed to roll his car eight and a half times in this action, which officially broke a new Guinness World Record. Previously this record was held by Adam Kirley in the film Casino Royale.
The cannon toss is a classic action in car films that involves an explosion under a moving car, causing the car to flip over repeatedly.
