Universal Pictures and 87North Productions have collaborated with actress Emily Blunt for their latest project, “The Fall Guy”. The action film is inspired by the classic 1980s series, with “The Gray Man” actor Ryan Gosling set to star in the title role.
Deadline reports that the British actress will star opposite Gosling in the film. The original version of “The Fall Guy” tells the story of a stuntman, Colt Seavers (Lee Majors), who learns the world of bounty hunting as a part-time job, especially when stuntman jobs are not available. The film is expected to follow a similar storyline. Bullet Train director David Leitch will direct the film, who previously revealed that production would begin in Australia in October this year. The director announced via Collider’s exclusive interview that the upcoming adaptation will reimagine the previous show and will simply involve the story of a stuntman who gets involved in dramatic chaos.
“So, there’s fun and action, and we’re trying to make a big summer movie with that,” the director said. “And Universal was very supportive, and Ryan was really collaborative on the material, and we started shooting in October. So, we’re in pre-production now.”
Blunt himself has been widely known through various roles. He recently completed the project “Oppenheimer,” a screen adaptation of Kai Bird’s 2005 biographical book, “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.” In the film, John Krasinski’s wife will star alongside Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Dane DeHaan, and Matt Damon. This film will be directed by Christopher Nolan.
Meanwhile, Gosling himself will play Ken in the upcoming live-action “Barbie” film. Although no other cast members have been announced, with the involvement of Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, this film is expected to be a big screen adaptation filled with famous stars. “The Fall Guy” will hit theaters on March 1, 2024.
