Marvel Studios is considering bringing back the phenomenal actor who brought the MCU to success, Robert Downey. Actor Robert Downey Jr. is one of the names who helped raise and bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe to success. There were doubts about the quality of his acting after the drug case he experienced, RDJ then proved that he could come back much better than before.
Robert Downey then successfully played the character Tony Stark in the Iron Man story in 2008. This was the beginning of the success of the MCU. The character of Tony Stark himself is currently very attached to the figure of RDJ. After appearing for a decade, RDJ decided to retire from playing Iron Man as we saw in the film Avengers: Endgame. Tony sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos and bring back world peace.
Many fans hope that RDJ can return to playing the character of Iron Man, and there are even quite a few theories and speculation among fans referring to this. Shocking news then emerged recently, according to a report from Variety, that Marvel Studios is considering bringing back Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU. The report explains that Marvel Studios did this on purpose in the midst of the crisis they were experiencing.
Even so, Marvel Studios itself has not taken any concrete steps to make this happen. What’s also interesting is that there is talk that Marvel Studios will bring back various previous MCU characters, such as Iron Man and Black Widow. However, bringing back Robert Downey would certainly require huge funds for Marvel Studios. Marvel itself had to spend 25 million dollars for RDJ in the film Iron Man 3.
That means they will need much bigger funds to bring RDJ back to the MCU, considering that he is now one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. However, on the other hand, bringing RDJ back to the MCU would be a big risk that Marvel Studios would have to bear. The reason is, Tony Stark’s farewell in the film Endgame is a phenomenal moment which is likely to provoke controversy among fans if he later returns from his death.
